Higher Education

Many of our students once completing their A Levels, move onto higher education establishments across the UK taking on a wide range of courses.  Students will be provided with a vast amount of information throughout their time within the sixth form to help them through the application process to university and the support that will be available to them whilst they are there.

UCAS is the main platform students will use when it comes to all things relating to their university applications.  The UCAS website has traditionally been focussed around university applications only, however students now have the ability to also search for future careers, apprenticeships and other alternatives to university from the website.  Students can create their university applications using the UCAS platform at the beginning of Year 13.

The Complete University Guide - https://www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/

The Complete University Guide enables students to access rankings of different institutions across the UK.  Students can rank institutions by the subjects they wish to study in order to help inform their decisions about where they wish to study once leaving William de Ferrers.  The guide also presents students with the opportunity to book onto university open days across the UK.

Apply to Uni is a comprehensive website for both students and parents to improve awareness of the range of courses that are available across the UK.  As well as this, the website presents information to parents about the benefits of students choosing university once they leave the sixth form.

This Government website provides both students and parents the opportunity to explore their options in regards to student finance in order to support students through their time at university.  Information is provided on how the application process works, which evidence will be required to support an application, as well as the maximum amount of loan that may be available to a student.
