School Uniform

The wearing of School Uniform is compulsory at the William de Ferrers for we believe that it promotes good standards, self-respect and supports school discipline. 

School uniform and sports wear can be purchased from Patricia’s located in Trinity Square, South Woodham Ferrers.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 10:00am - 4pm
Wednesday: Closed

Students' Uniform Years 7 - 11

  • Bottle green blazer with school badge
  • Plain black or charcoal grey straight school trousers (no jeans, cropped leg, bootleg, flares or fashion trousers) or pleated school skirt (must be worn at knee length)
  • Plain white school shirt or blouse with collar
  • School tie
  • Black shoes (no trainers, boots, heels or canvas shoes. This includes leather trainers)
  • Socks should be a dark colour with trousers or ankle length and white with skirts. Knee high socks are not permitted. Tights should be black.
  • Plain bottle green v-neck sweater (optional)

Please also note the following in regard to school uniform:

  • Only an optional green V neck jumper may be worn under your child’s blazer. Hoodies, non-uniform jumpers or sweatshirts are not allowed to be worn in school.
  • A wrist watch is allowed. All other jewellery, including piercings, bracelets or rings are not permitted.
  • False eyelashes, nail varnish or false nails are not permitted.If your child has an injury where they are unable to wear normal school shoes they will be permitted to wear soft black trainers if medical evidence of the injury can be provided.
  • Coats and scarves can be worn to and from school in the winter months but are not to be worn in the school building. 

Parents can purchase the year 11 school tie only via Parentpay or please contact the Finance Office.

School PE Kit Years 7 - 11

  • Green round neck sport jumper (available from Patricia’s)
  • Plain white polo shirt (available from Patricia’s)
  • Green rugby shirt - Not essential (available from Patricia’s)
  • Black sports shorts (no cycling shorts including Nike Pros) or plain black jogging bottoms or black sports leggings
  • Plain white sports socks or black football socks
  • Trainers or astro

Students are encouraged to wear black or white skins underneath their PE kits in the winter months as additional layers.

Gum shields and shin pads are recommended.
 
All PE kit must be clearly marked with the pupil's name and brought to lessons in a separate bag from other school equipment.
 
Pupils need to bring kit to each lesson.  If they are unable to do PE they must bring a note excusing them, but still bring and change in to their outdoor PE kit.
