William de Ferrers School celebrate superb student successes

Categories: Parent's Information

Students and staff of William de Ferrers School are celebrating the superb successes of our students who continue to achieve excellent results. A sense of joy was clearly evident as so many young people met or exceeded their expectations enabling them to successfully continue on to the next stage in their education.

The headteacher Mr Applewhite said “we are particularly delighted that 66% of our students achieved a grade 4 or higher in the new more demanding science courses. Far more students took triple science this year and we are extremely pleased with their successes: 84% of students achieved 9-4 in biology, 83% in chemistry and an impressive 86% in physics. Both maths and English departments continue to perform highly with over 70% of results graded 4 or higher with English achieving 64% at 5 or above.

We are also very pleased with our performance of our arts subjects, which are highly valuable to young people but under continued external national pressures under the current curriculum climate. Our drama department achieved an impressive 27% 9-8 grades with 40% achieving grades between 9 - 7”.

There were some outstanding individual performances for example Jack Bunyan, Brijesh Patel, Will Rean and Samuel Bridge who all achieved 4 or more subjects graded 9 and at least 5 other subjects graded 7 or higher.  In a truly remarkable performance and a special credit should go to Holly Letts who has 8 subjects which were graded 9 and 2 others graded 7 or higher.

We are very proud of the results achieved by our students and look forward to welcoming many back into our sixth form in September.
