Drama

Welcome to the Drama department page.

Our department consists of three dedicated teachers who all teach Drama across the Drama and Media Studies curriculum areas.

At the core of our work is the exploration of people and society through the process of creating and performing dramatic work.  We strive to challenge our students intellectually and enable them to build a broad repertoire of performance knowledge and skills to express themselves creatively. As such we make a strong contribution to students social, moral, spiritual and cultural education.  We offer a safe and supportive environment which allows students to achieve well and build their confidence levels and communication skills. Staff are highly supportive of students and arrange many out of hours activities to support learning and progression.

‘Our aim is to prepare students fully for the Edexcel Drama GCSE course by giving them opportunities to perform both devised and scripted work. Students will be encouraged to evaluate their work and that of others in order to prepare them for the theoretical aspects of Drama. Our aim is to encourage acceptance and approval of others and to ensure students learn in a physically and socially safe environment. We also strive to ensure students enjoy exploring artistic ideas and prepare them for the challenges of group work and presenting in front of others.

Extra Curricular Activities
When possible the department likes to ensure that students are given the opportunity to be involved in a school production. This is likely to take place at the end of the Autumn term. We believe that this is a very important opportunity for students and it is clearly evident from past productions that students and parents value this greatly.
