National Citizen Service (NCS)
Categories: Parent's Information
The National Citizen Service (NCS) came into school last week and presented to year 11 students as part of their assembly programme.
NCS run programmes during the summer holidays once year 11 students have finished their exams. It helps young people to build their skills for work and life, while they take on new challenges and meet new friends. NCS brings together young people from different backgrounds and helps them develop greater confidence, self-awareness and responsibility. It encourages personal and social development by working on skills like leadership, teamwork and communication.
Students will have a short time away from home and take part in a team project that will help the community. Participants develop a social action project to deal with a local issue they are passionate about, and spend 30 hours putting the project into action in the community.
The team will be back in school on Monday 27 January to collect the expression of interest forms given to students as part of their assembly last week. Students can also sign up online at any time.
There will be representatives from NCS at the careers convention being held at the school on Thursday 11 March 2020.
