National Citizen Service (NCS)
Categories: Parent's Information
The National Citizen Service will be attending year 11 parents evening on Thursday 21 November and will be available for parents and students to speak to and gain information on the fantastic programme they run. They will be in school to present this information in January to students during an assembly but they would like to start getting this information out to parents and students as early as possible.
The NCS run programmes in the summer holidays once year 11 students have finished their exams. It helps young people to build their skills for work and life, while they take on new challenges and meet new friends.
NCS brings together young people from different backgrounds and helps them develop greater confidence, self-awareness and responsibility. It encourages personal and social development by working on skills like leadership, teamwork and communication.
Students will have a short time away from home and take part in a team project that will help your community. Participants develop a social action project to deal with local
issues that they are passionate about, and spend 30 hours putting the project into action in their community.
