William de Ferrers has a successful history of training teachers across a range of subject areas and a number of our staff are ex pupils. We are part of The Plume teacher training partnership, BTSA partnership and Essex Schools ITT partnership all who are committed to attracting, training and developing graduates to enable all schools within our area to reach the same level of excellence and quality of provision thus ensuring that all our trainees achieve their full potential.
In order to realise this vision William de Ferrers and other schools in the partnerships have made a commitment to work together to provide the very best school-based teacher training programmes in the Secondary sector. All three of the programmes seek to maximise time spent in the classroom by ensuring that the face-to-face professional studies programme is of the highest quality and delivered within our locality.
Part time study is now also available along with other opportunities via our providers for subject knowledge enhancement programmes.
BTSA
BTSA is a lead partner and local delivery partner for Tes Institute, who is the accredited ITT provider.
The BTSA is committed to attracting, training and developing recently qualified graduates to enable all schools within our area to reach the same level of excellence and quality of provision thus ensuring that all our young people achieve their full potential.
In order to realise this vision our placement schools have committed to work together with Tes Institute to provide the very best school-based teacher training programmes in the infant, primary and secondary sector.
BTSA: the lead partner - has an operational or strategic role with responsibilities delegated to them by the accredited ITT provider, such as trainee recruitment, delivering training, involvement in ITT curriculum design, supplying lead mentors/mentor leadership teams, or running Intensive Training and Practice.
We are committed to ensuring:

Providing timely responses to applications.

Every applicant has time to attend interviews for other courses with other providers, and to consider the outcomes of other applications before accepting or declining offers with us.

Applicants are given a deadline to meet any offer conditions that have been set.

Applicants that apply and are interviewed at different times through the recruitment period, should be given the same amount of time to meet the same conditions, where possible.

If an application is rejected, feedback should explain the reason(s) to the applicant, including advice on how the application can be improved.
About the Essex Schools ITT
There are over 20 schools in the partnerships, all judged to be outstanding or good (Grade 1 or 2) by Ofsted and managed by Davenant Foundation School. The unique blended learning programme combines school based training, on-line learning materials, a network of experienced subject specialists to deliver pedagogy and subject knowledge and a number of off-site visits to special schools, primary schools and Leading Teacher days.
All of the schools have a track record of working with university PGCE providers and Essex ITT. The working partnership has been in existence for over 10 years which ensures that cooperation between the schools is established and is a strength of the partnership. Each school provides a fully trained Mentor for each trainee, supported by a Pathway Tutor from TES Institute who visits each half-term.
The Plume Teacher Training Partnership
Our Initial Teacher Training (ITT) fee-funded programme allows you to learn on the job as you work towards your qualified teacher status (QTS) recommendation. This non-salaried route is run by Plume Community Teaching Partnership working closely with accredited ITT provider Tes Institute. You will be based at Plume Academy or one of our partner secondary or primary placement schools and your pedagogical training will be delivered by Tes Institute.
Initial teacher training (ITT) programmes are popular with students who are hoping to gain a position in their placement or other local schools following their training.
Although your training is based in a school, in many ways your training will be similar to training programmes in universities and colleges. Our Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) route is accredited by the University of East London (UEL).
While the majority of ITT programmes lead to a PGCE qualification, you may also opt for our QTS only route, which will fully qualify you to teach in England and Wales.
