Hate Crime Assemblies

Categories: Parent's Information

Last week saw a series of successful assemblies take place for all year groups on the subject of hate crimes.

The assemblies were led by Mr Stephen Parker, who is an education officer at Essex Police. These assemblies are a joint venture organised by Essex police and Essex fire service and are taking place in a number of schools in the area.

Different types of hate crimes that are commonplace in our society were identified, as well as the impact they can have on individuals and communities. Students were given information on how to avoid becoming involved, either intentionally or unintentionally and, if they were to witness a hate crime, guidance on how they should report it.

After the assemblies Mr Parker commented on how impressed he was with the way in which our students behaved and conducted themselves during the assemblies.
